The game DAMA is part of a series of reconstructions of historical games, handmade from natural materials in the DABRAVA studio. The game board is made of leather suede, with ceramic or glass checkers. The game folds up and ties into a lightweight bag, convenient for storage, carrying and playing anywhere.
The ornaments are of hunting and battle scenes based on motifs from graffiti drawings carved on stone blocks on the fortress wall of Pliska, where diagrams of the game board of the game CHECKERS were found and painted.

Origin of the game
DAMА is a strategic game, known since Ancient Greece and Rome. In the Roman legionary city of Nove near the town of Svishtov, a pedestal from a Roman sanctuary was found, the lower part of which was outlined and carved as a playing field in the 4th century. The stone pedestal was found moved to one of the towers of the fortress and was apparently used for playing by soldiers in their free time from battles.
On the fortress walls of Pliska and Preslav, diagrams of the game “Dame” were found carved on limestone blocks. Such a diagram was also found carved on a stone bench in front of a rock monastery in the Silistra region (8th – 11th centuries). The game is also found in Bulgaria under the name “Babylon”. Its variants with 3, 9 and 12 checkers are known.
